Drilling in tricky places
Grounds first project post level 4 lock-down was to drill eight meters and retrieve two HQ cores samples from a difficult access site, the site situated on the cliffs above Nelsons Haulashore island posed it own challenges, access was very limited with a steep stair way the only route to the drilling location, A TEI man portable rig was stripped down to parts carried onto the drill location a reassembled for drilling.
Our team encountered saturated clays in the first three meters of the bore, so they opted to drill that section using 100mm augers to make way for the HQ gear saving our client cost while still providing our engineer with the necessary information.
